Artist Statement:

Lisa Battle is a ceramic artist who creates distinctive abstract sculptures and vases by handbuilding with stoneware clay. Her work celebrates the primal forces of nature—earth, water, and fire—and cycles of change. The forces of nature also influence her works as they are exposed to the transformative powers of wind and fire in the wood kiln. Lisa lives in Maryland and fires at Monocacy River Pottery. She is on the board of the Washington Sculptors' Group and the Creative Crafts Council. Her work is shown at Studio Gallery in Washington, DC and Scope Gallery in Alexandria.
