Jan Solomon

Artist Statement:

Jan Solomon makes handcrafted jewelry, primarily one of a kind, in a variety of styles—organic, geometric, some minimalist, others fanciful. Jan has worked with multiple materials, including beads, wire, glass, polymer, and recycled materials. She now works mainly in sterling and fine silver, but also steel and gold, using precious and non-precious stones, beads, anodized aluminum, enamel, and other alternative and repurposed materials.

She loves refining her skills and learning new techniques that she incorporates into her work. She belieives jewelry should be wearable, fun, make a statement, or be versatile, and she likes making pieces that can be worn in multiple ways. Jan has studied at Creative Metalworks, the Art League School, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Glen Echo's Silverworks Studio, and at workshops with well-known artists. Jan lives in Washington, DC and shows her work there, as well as in Maryland.
