Artist Statement:

When in nature—whether on a wooded trail or in my own backyard—I am drawn to overlooked spaces: the base of a tree, a muddy creek bank, or leaf litter along a path. These environments reward careful observation, revealing small wonders often missed in passing: mushrooms emerging from decaying wood, a frog hidden among leaves, or a snail crossing the forest floor. Such discoveries inspire a sense of wonder, connection, and gratitude for the natural world.

My sculptures build on this experience, blending the ordinary with the extraordinary to explore themes of symbiosis, resilience, and interconnectedness. Hand-built from porcelain, they imagine animals, plants, and fungi becoming intertwined, carrying thriving microhabitats and blurring the boundaries between organisms. Through intricate detail and close looking, I invite viewers to discover the quiet beauty and complexity that surrounds us every day.
