Artist Statement:

My raku pottery is inspired by my love of geometric forms and the glitz and glamor of shiny metallic glazes.  Each piece is unique and forged in flames. I aspire to create pleasing shapes and accentuate them with a balance of glaze and bare clay.  Flame and smoke are my paints.

When I’m not in the studio, I am a full-time research chemist with a 30+ year career in international science.  My background in science draws me to the raku process and inspires a level of control that could be considered unachievable.  Striving to understand the process and the need to control outcomes fuels my creativity.
